My first encounter with surfing began with a poster I found hanging in my father’s wardrobe — a 1990s image of a surfer riding a wave. I was instantly captivated. As a child, I would flip through my dad’s old surf magazines, mesmerized by the vibrant culture and the idea of life on the ocean.
Years later, when I was accepted into an international university exchange program, I chose Portugal — not just for its academic quality, but because it offered the one thing I had dreamed of since childhood: a chance to experience real surfing. At that time, surfing in Turkey was almost unimaginable.
I studied at a university with windows overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. I remember gazing out during class, counting the minutes until I could head to the waves. Surfing became more than a sport; it became a way of life — a connection to nature, to freedom, and to myself. That passion continued for years as I traveled and surfed in different countries.
Meanwhile, Turkey began discovering its own surf spots. A local surf scene started to emerge. While working for over a decade in international container logistics and sales, I never stopped dreaming of contributing to this culture in a more meaningful way.
After research and experimentation, I decided to produce my own surf wax — handmade at home, using natural ingredients. As I dove deeper, I saw a clear opportunity: a gap in both the Turkish and global market for high-quality, eco-conscious surf wax. I realized that if I kept improving, I could represent my country with pride and build a brand that mattered.
That’s why Salty Box Wax exists.
After countless handcrafted trials and invaluable feedback from surfers around the world, we’ve taken the next bold step in our journey. What began as a passion-driven, handmade process is now evolving into a refined, high-performance production approach.
We are redefining our formulas—enhancing quality, consistency, and performance—while staying true to the soul of our craft. With production now being developed in the UK, we are merging artisanal expertise with advanced manufacturing, creating a product that delivers both authenticity and precision.
